Laura has only recently started exploring acrylics. Join her as she learns what works, what doesn't, and how to achieve some really cool effects with different mediums, supports, grounds, varnishes and of course, painting techniques!

Afloat SOLD
Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus).

Atelier acrylics with liquid gloss varnish. 12 x 16 inches. The platypus is such a unique and remarkable creature. I still regard my first sighting of one in the wild as a special memory - I truly thought it was just a floating log... with mildly odd behaviour... such as flowing against the current!
Kookaburra mugshot
Laughing kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae).

Atelier acrylics. 10 x 12 inches. Kookaburras are such hilarious creatures - not only because of the cackling calls they make. They have a lot of character, especially when you observe them in family groups, and when they're looking for a bite to eat! This fellow was posing for his mugshot.
